What to do when a person dies at home in Singapore?

In Singapore:

The next of kin of the deceased will be informed by a Police Officer. To complete the death report, it is essential for the next of kin to go to the nearest Police Station to inform them about the demise.

It is important to note that if the death occurred in a public place, it is advisable to inform the relevant authority such as:

The nearest Medical Institution

The public ambulance service

The Singapore Civil Defence Force

If the deceased is a senior citizen or aged, the next of kin should contact the Elderly Affairs.

In case there is a need to contact a relative of the deceased, it is important to provide the following details:

Full name of the deceased

Last address of the deceased

Date and time of death

The police will also need to inform the next of kin about the arrangements that should be made for the body to be transported. The next of kin has to make arrangements with a funeral supplier, mortuary or crematorium.

It is essential to note that all these services will be charged. If there is no next of kin, the body will be taken by the Government Mortuary for post-mortem and burial.
