Handy Hacks that are Useful Every Day Life

Not all people are handy, but sometimes you want to do some minor reparation on their home. What would you do? Read on to know some handy hacks!

A few of us might be able to install a new water pipe, or change a light bulb. Maybe you can repair a garden fence, and some others might have some more advanced skills, but they don’t always know where to start.

There are also some people who are not at all handy, and they need to buy everything in the hardware store. This is why I decided to write this post about handy hacks.

I wanted to share with you the most useful tools that you should always keep on your toolbox. The handy hacks listed here will help you make simple repairs on the house, make your work easier and faster, or maybe save you some money in the long run.

Hack #1: Tapping

We all know that we can tap a hole in the wall, but what if you don’t have a drill? The answer is: use a hammer and screwdriver.

There are different types of tapping tools available, but the one I’m going to show you here is the simplest one: a screwdriver. It’s made for cutting screws, but it also works as a mini-drill for creating holes in wood or plastic.

In this picture you can see that I’m using an old 2-in-1 tool, which I found at the hardware store. If you don’t have an old screwdriver laying around, use a small wooden dowel instead.

Hack #2: Chalk Board

Sometimes we need to draw on a board or chalkboard in order to organize our home and make things easier. You can get the most popular types of chalk boards at your local hardware store, but there are some hacks that will help you make your own using ordinary household items.

You can draw with any kind of chalk — from very fine chalk to paint or markers — but the one I’m going to show you here is made out of regular dry-erase markers. The white color won’t show stains and dirt on the board, and you can erase the chalk marks whenever you want.

Hack #3: Knife

A knife is an important tool in every kitchen, but some people don’t have a proper one at home. If you don’t have a knife that you like to use, then you can make your own using a pocket knife.

You can use it for cutting vegetables or meat, but it will also work as a ruler or as a screwdriver. Just make sure that the blade is not too sharp, because if it’s too sharp then it might hurt you.

This is how I made my own kitchen knife using an old pocket knife from my dad’s collection.

Hack #4: Rubber Band

If you need to do some minor repairs on your car and there’s no jack available, then there’s an easy solution for that: use a rubber band. All you need to do is take the rubber band off of your hand and bend it slightly.

This will make the band thinner and more flexible, which will help you easily lift the car without making any scratches on the paint.

If there are other objects that are heavier than your car — such as bricks or concrete blocks — then just wrap the rubber band around them before lifting them up with the help of the car.

Hack #5: Fishing Hook

There are a lot of things that you can use as a fishing hook, but one of the most common ones is a toothpick. Just grab it with your hand and bend it slightly to make it thinner.

You can also use an old pencil or another piece of wood. If you have a small hole in your house wall, then you can use a small drill bit to make a small hole in the wall and insert the toothpick into it.

This will help you hang pictures on the wall without making any holes in the paint. You can also use a larger drill bit if you want to make bigger holes for hanging things like mirrors or picture frames.
