A person doesn’t need to have any special skills or training to become an Independent Property Agent. A property agent doesn’t need to be a qualified lawyer or have any other special qualifications.
Do I need to be an estate agent?
No, you do not need to be an estate agent to become a property agent. Many agents are non-estate agents and many of our agents are in the mortgage industry, valuers, conveyancers and so on.
What will I need to start as a property agent?
To start as a property agent you will need:
- a passion for property
- a desire to succeed in a sales environment
- excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients
- ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What is the difference between an Independent Property Agent and an Estate Agent?
Estate agents are agents who have ties to a single agency and only work for that agency. As an Independent Property Agent you will be able to work for multiple agencies and have the freedom to choose your own clients.
You will be able to offer your clients a broader range of services and opportunities than an estate agent. You will be able to choose the areas you want to work in, build up your own book of business, have more control over your income and negotiate your own pay.
Do I need any qualifications?
No, you do not need any qualifications or experience to become a property agent. Many of our agents have no previous experience or qualifications in property. We design our property training course for people with no previous experience in property sales.
You can learn the skills required as part of our training program. If you already have some experience working in real estate then we can help you develop that experience into a successful career as a property agent by applying it within our sales environment.
What is a Licence To Work As A Property Agent?
In order to work as a property agent you will need to apply for a licence to work as a property agent. We call this a Property Agents Licence.
You can only apply for this licence once you have received an offer on an agreement by Hot and the Department of Fair Trading has approved your application.
Once you have a licence you can then start working as an Independent Property Agent and start earning income.
