Smart homes have become more affordable for many as prices have fallen in recent months, and for those who are considering setting up their own smart home, here’s a price comparison of the cost of setting up a smart home in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines.
We used Lazada to determine the prices for each of the items. You can also check out their deals section on the website as they have several items listed there with discounts.
The prices below are an average of the cost in each country and sometimes fluctuate depending on regional promotions or discounts from Lazada sellers. We’ve also included some accessories that you might want to add to your smart home as well as some other miscellaneous costs that you might incur during the setup process.
Although you can buy the items from Lazada, you can also check out other local electronics stores to see if they can offer a better price.
We’ve listed the smart home items that you would need to build a smart home in each country below. This includes lights, speakers, appliances, thermostats and security cameras. We’ve also included some accessories and miscellaneous costs.
Note: We decided to also include the cost of devices that are not strictly smart home devices. For example, a security camera does not qualify as a smart home device but it is an important part of many smart homes. Likewise, we decided to include the cost of the Nest thermostat because Nest is a smart home platform that can be incorporated into any smart home.
